Marktlink Capital has secured €520m from private investors for two new funds, strengthening its strategy of providing access to top-tier private equity and venture capital opportunities across Europe and North America.
Why it matters: The substantial capital raise highlights the growing confidence in European private equity markets and the vital role such investments play in fueling economic growth.
The details:
- The raise includes €440m for a private equity vehicle targeting 11 funds such as Hg, Adams Street Partners, Egeria, and Mill Point Capital.
- €80m was raised for a venture capital fund backing leading VC managers focused on high-growth technology and AI-driven businesses.
- Since inception in 2020, Marktlink Capital has amassed over €2.5bn in commitments, almost entirely from Dutch entrepreneurs and families, and built a network of nearly 2,000 investors.
- The firm uses a fund-of-funds and feeder fund model with a €250k minimum investment threshold.
This development is anticipated to have a positive ripple effect across multiple industries, particularly in technology, health tech, clean energy, and AI, which are key areas of focus for many venture capital funds.
What they’re saying:
- “Geopolitical tensions, trade tariffs, and the reduced appeal of real estate as an asset class are driving investors towards more diversified strategies,” said Managing Partner Hylke Hertoghs.
- “The funds we have selected are positioned for today’s market and some are already producing valuations above expectations.”
- “These are exciting times for venture capital. The AI revolution, developments in biotech, and renewed attention for (cyber)security bring many opportunities. We believe enormous prospects still lie ahead for investors, and we are pleased to give them access to this attractive but hard-to-reach asset class,” Hertoghs added.
What’s next: The capital will be allocated to eleven private equity managers across Europe, aiming to drive investment in emerging and high-potential companies. This move is expected to bolster numerous startups and established businesses, providing them with the necessary funds to scale operations, innovate, and expand their market reach.
