The company will leverage its experience with the Maverick and F-150, along with customer feedback, to create the new model. The upcoming truck will use a new modular EV platform.
This approach allows for variations while maintaining cost efficiency and flexibility. The Maverick, which shares its platform with the last generation Focus, is an example of this versatility. Achieving the $30,000 price point will require innovative engineering.

The truck will focus on aerodynamics for improved efficiency.
Affordable electric truck strategy
Design choices such as flushness, sealing, and minimizing openings will enhance the aerodynamic profile.
Speculation suggests the new EV truck might start with a base similar to the Maverick. The design could extend the bed rearwards for secure storage. Ford has mentioned incorporating a front trunk for ample space.
Windshield adjustments, one-piece door stampings, and cost-saving measures like unpainted polypropylene around the base will likely be used. Practicality appears to be a priority, with features tailored for cost-effectiveness and functionality. Higher-end variants could feature body-colored cladding and a refined front graphic to appeal to customers seeking a more polished look.
Ford’s teaser image suggests a sleek and modern design approach. Ford’s new $30,000 EV truck aims to fill a niche in the market with affordability, practicality, and innovative design. The company’s experience and market understanding provide a solid foundation to redefine the EV truck segment.
